‘Iolani beats Mid-Pacific to stay up on ILH

Despite trailing by eight points at the half, top-ranked ‘Iolani powered its way to a 51-43 victory at Mid-Pacific last night in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I boys basketball game. The visiting Raiders outscored the Owls 28-12 in the final 16 minutes for their 10th win of the season and remained a game ahead of rival Punahou in league play.

Mid-Pacific jumped out to a 22-14 lead after the first quarter.

Senior Trevyn Tulonghari carried ‘Iolani with 20 points, followed by Adam Ching with eight.

Mid-Pacific’s Shaun Dobovan racked up a team-high 11 points, while Patrick Matthews was held to just six points.

Kamalei Correa tallied 16 points to lead the Crusaders over the Spartans.

Nate Mantanona finished with 10 points for Saint Louis. Maryknoll’s Johnny Mayer and Brandon Floyd scored six points each to lead the team.

The Buffanblu remain atop the ILH Division II standings with a slim victory over the Raiders.

Punahou held an 11-point lead going into the second half, but a late rally by ‘Iolani nearly knocked down the conference leader.

Alvin Kwock and Matt Taniguchi each scored 12 points for Punahou, while Maika Kealoha led ‘Iolani with nine points.

Cameron Conant scored a game-high 12 points as the Junior ‘Bows defeated the winless Patriots.

The Eagles rallied in the fourth quarter to surge past the Crusaders in conference play.

Jun Fritz scored 15 points for Hawaii Baptist, followed by Sage Bulseco with 10.

Leighton Chang provided a spark for Saint Louis with a game-high 19 points, including five 3-pointers. Alex Pacheco and Zachary Cuarisma added 11 points apiece for the Crusaders.
