Burglar fell to his death trying to flee, HPD says

A 37-year-old man, who allegedly broke into a 76-year-old woman’s University-area high-rise apartment, fell to his death this morning while trying to flee, Honolulu police said.

The man entered the apartment, but fled when the woman awoke at 5:07 a.m., police said. While trying to escape, the man fell out of a window and died, police said.

The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man Thursday as Richard Hong of Honolulu, but did not release a cause of death.

Police classified the case as a first-degree burglary and an unattended death.

glad that the cosmic forces came together to eliminate this person–thank you for the power of the “bachi” meting out justice–how unfortunate it would have been if the story was that a unknown burglary assaulted and battered a 76 year old grandmother to death– one less piece of XXXX we have to worry about–more stories like this is welcome such the cooper thief is severely burned while trying to steal cooper wire from city street lights–I love the power of the universe to carry out justice

    Talk about BACHI…

  8. BigErn says:

That’s awesome. Let this be a lesson to other burglars. Unless of course they break into klastris apt. Then that’s ok as he condones this type of behavior as a leftist sucking the teat of government

  9. bobjones says:

The cause of death obviously was there sudden stop after the fall.

  10. reamesr1 says:

klastri : I do not support Trump but I don’t feel sorry for this person dying. He did it by his own hand. You and your bleeding heart supporters have been crying for years and this type of behavior is over. This guy is a POS and deserves what he got. I am disabled and use a electric scooter to get around with because I don’t want to burden society because I have MS. I also carry a gun when I go out why because scum bags like this run freely because of bleeding heart people like yourself. Trust me I would not hesitate to put a bullet between his eyes. It’s called GUN CONTROL ( hitting what you aim at ).

Cat burglar who used up his 8 previous lives will now meet his maker! Should have never left the islands!

    Justice has been served.

  14. Cellodad says:

Yeah but he just cost us, taxpayers, about $3000-5000. The medico-legal investigation of unattended death is quite expensive. It would have been cheaper if the punk had decided to take AP classes in school and become an engineer or get an MBA.

    • Tita Girl says:

That’s cheaper than 3-5K a month having to house, feed, provide medical services and a lawyer. It’s unfortunate that he died, but by age 37, he should have had a J-O-B and not rely on STEALING from anyone.

    • dragoninwater says:

You obviously never counted the thousands it’ll cost to have him arrested, prosecuted and incarcerated which would have cost an average of $90,000 the first year and an additional $70k+ annually. Definitely another inept voter blinded by the inept “D” politicians he cheers and votes for.

    • gmejk says:

Not to mention the cost to everyone who has to pay for a burglar alarm, motion sensors and cameras just to have peace of mind that while we’re at work trying to make a living (which this scumbag obviously wasn’t doing) someone like him won’t break in and steal everything of value that we own. That’s a cost that a lot of good, law-abiding citizens have to deal with.

    • Allaha says:

Death penalty for burglary is harsh, at least for the first burglary. For multiples It would be good.

      • dragoninwater says:

We just don’t know his history yet. For all we know if he might be a serial offender. When you have incompetent federal judges like self proclaimed federal judge Kastri whom let’s every registered Democrat criminal walk, we might never know how many times he’s committed crimes unless they grant access to his rap sheet.

  15. Upperkula says:

The Medical Examiner will say the cause of death was his wings failed to deploy.

    …and the 76 year old woman? – she’s terrified.

  18. saveparadise says:

Good news is that the 76 year old woman is in good health and will no longer be a victim of the deceased. If there is a God then I guess he passed judgement on this criminal.

  19. SueH says:

Finally something good happens! It couldn’t have happened to a more deserving type of person…

  20. iwanaknow says:

SA, please do a follow up story of the life story/history of Richard Hong…..cover EVERYTHING from his birth to his death……..make us feel sorry that Life dealt him an unfair hand……

Cover his birth family and any heirs he left behind………..follow up in 6 months to see if survivors are still grieving……take a picture of his grave site too. I wanna know……………I wanna feel sympathy for this potential friend I never knew.

My heart just bleeds for this Child of God who made wrong choices…….maybe I’ll meet him on the other side of Heaven and hear his story of sadness and woe and why Life was unfair to him?…..iwannaknow

  21. Bully says:

I dont feel sorry for him, he got what he deserved.
