Vandals trash bathrooms at two city parks
Honolulu police are investigating vandalism of bathrooms at two city parks this past weekend.
In one of the men’s bathrooms at Sandy Beach Park, the sinks were torn out of the wall, and drains, urinal valves and toilet paper dispensers were broken, the city said in a news release. The perpetrators also burned a trash container.
At Makakilo Community Park, vandals marred a city van and the exterior of the recreation center with “profanity-laced graffiti,” the city said.
Crews have begun to repair the damaged bathroom at Sandy Beach. Meanwhile, a second comfort station on the Makapuu side of the park is closed due to renovations. That restroom is being partially demolished while crews renovate the exterior of the building, including walls, plumbing and the roof.
The city provided three portable bathroom facilities while the renovations are being made. “The city is determining if more is needed in light of the recent vandalism,” the city said.
“These are senseless acts that waste taxpayer money and hurt local families who want to visit the beach or participate in recreational activities,” Mayor Kirk Caldwell said in a news release. “These criminal acts will be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible, and I hope anyone with information about who may have done this comes forward so the vandal or vandals can be arrested immediately.”
Anyone with information about these crimes are asked to call police or CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.

so sad..trashing their own house
As was said before, until these culprits are apprehended, just leave a bare slit-trench in the ground for the public’s comfort. Hard to vandalize a thing like that.
Why? Nothing better else to do? These perpetrators hurt especially families who visit these places. No class with the ainokea attitude. Shameful.
Parenting, or the lack thereof.
Lock the bathrooms after 5:00pm.
Something stinks about that idea.
Fishermen and others use the parks after 5 p.m.
Shows there are punks all over the state. If they get caught they should make them do the clean up at other damaged facilities. If juvenile then parents pay for the damages.
Are we that stupid in Hawaii that we would trash a public bathroom because we have nothing better to do. That’s why we need better education so we can make better decisions in our life.
Maybe not “better education” but better birth control?
Even if they’re caught, the judge will give them a thirty day suspended sentence. That’s why they keep doing it. Give them a year and it will stop pretty fast especially if the police watch suspected areas around the clock to apprehend them.
And if your house gets ripped off while police resources are being tied up to “watch suspected areas around the clock”, I’m sure you’ll have something to say about that too.
Since he’s no longer in contention for Secretary of State, perhaps we need Mayor Rudy (“Not One Broken Window”) Giuliani to show us locals how it’s done?
The solution is simple. Upon conviction, start cutting arms off.
When is the city finally going to understand you cannot put porcelain, home quality sinks and toilets in a public restrooms is a total waste of money.
Take a lesson from the prisons and install virtually indestructible stainless steel toilets and sinks. This way all supporting piping, and controls are built into the walls to prevent damage. Yes they will cost more but they will last.

That’s what I’ve been saying a long time. They like try destroying stainless steel items, go ahead and bang um, but only get make big noise and attract people in the area.
They should put in the stain steel ones only.
Our so-called “”justice” system owns these lawless incidents. By their leniency and “catch and release” strategy, there are no realistic consequences when these vermin are caught. This only serves to embolden them to commit bigger and more serious crimes. The system is seriously broken and has absolutely no deterrent value.
Provide options for vigilantes to take control: small bounty provided to anyone who catches one in the act, and a free pass to inflict bodily harm.

Me thinks it is the only way the a “have not” react against the “haves” psychologically? Or constant battle between the vagrants against established employed/established society?
Don’t the great unwashed legions of “have nots” also need to relieve themselves at times?
Best they be placed in the sewer treatment facilities where they can associate with their sampling!
