UC Davis beats Rainbow Warriors

Lawrence White hit a 3-pointer with 1:37 left to give UC Davis the lead it would keep against host Hawaii in a 76-70 Big West basketball victory tonight

Noah Allen scored a game-high 26 points for Hawaii. Chima Moneke also scored 26 points for the Aggies, a career-high for him.

Hawaii fell to 8-10 overall and 2-3 in the conference. UC Davis improved to 12-8 and 4-1 to remain a game behind first-place UC Irvine.

The Rainbow Warriors led 69-68 after Brocke Stepteau drove the lane for a layup with 2:03 left, but then White hit his only 3-pointer of the game.

Allen scored 15 in the first half as UH took a 33-32 lead into the lockers.

Moneke had 12 for UC Davis before the break.

UC Davis scored nine of the first 11 points of the second half to go up 41-35, forcing a Hawaii timeout.

The Rainbows tied it at 45-all, as Sheriff Drammeh hit a 3-pointer and a 15-footer to lead a UH surge.

Neither team led the rest of the way by more than three points until Moneke made a free throw for a 73-69 margin with 25 seconds left.

No cheerleaders yet? UCD missed 14 free throws, if they made half of that the game wouldn’t have even been close and UH was FAVORED. Bad coaching evident. Every time UCD called a possession time out their coach called a play and they usually scored. Ganot calls a possession time out and UH flubs the ball sometimes not even getting a shot off. And don’t be fooled UCD isn’t a good team, its ranked 240 on some indexes. UH has yet to win a game against a team ranked higher than 200, which is bad.
