Additional eastbound H-1 lane closure scheduled for Waimalu

State transportation officials said an additional, right-lane closure has been scheduled for the eastbound H-1 freeway at the Waimalu Viaduct on Friday to expedite shoulder widening work for the ongoing Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation project.

Scheduled closures for Friday include:

>> Right lane closure from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on eastbound H-1 between the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) and the Kaonohi Street overpass.

>> Two right lanes closed from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on eastbound H-1 between the H-1/H-2 merge and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass. A third lane will be closed from 7:30 p.m. Friday through 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Shoulder lane will be closed at this time.

The lane closures are in addition to previously scheduled ones for the week, including:

>> Shoulder closure from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today through Thursday on the eastbound H-1 freeway between the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass, as well as from 9 a.m. to midnight on Friday.

The goal is to restore the shoulder lane in time for the Monday morning commute, state officials said.

Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time and check traffic apps before heading to their destinations. Weekly lane closures are posted online.
