Use LED lighting powered with DC low voltage. This will require specialized equipment to make it useful to the homeless crowd.

  2. lespark says:

    Catch them and waterboard them.

    HPD is good for nuttin!

    • hybrid_mustang says:

Blame the ACLU…they sue the city and state to leave them alone but always call police when the homeless hang out at their building….go figure!

I think the ACLU building should be a homeless “SAFE ZONE”…

  4. krusha says:

Ask Trump for infrastructure money to build a big wall around that park.

  5. localguy says:

What ever money was used to repair the wiring, other damage, must be taken from homeless support funds. No reason for taxpayers to cover this expense, let the homeless pay for it.

    Fair is fair.

  6. Masami says:

“FYI”, driving home from work yesterday on the ewa bound embankment just before the Nuuanu Avenue overpass there’s a homeless guy that set up his camp and he was naked. Just below on the embankment is a bunch of trash which I presume came from him. They’re setting up all along the freeway sides.

  7. stanislous says:

You want to see homeless… it’s a “refugee camp” all along Iwilei Rd. from Aala Park to Dole Theaters. Hundreds of tents block the sidewalks.

  8. bluebowl says:

Honolulu taxpayers calling Kirk Caldwell,et al do your job.

  9. samidunn says:

Police should enforce the laws & judges should give jail time to those found guilty.

  10. puna01 says:

Do not just repair the damage, but upgrade with more robust fixtures. Look at the cabinets that control most traffic signals at intersections. Those things are huge, and if you ever tapped your hand on one you would hear that they are solid! They also have huge padlocks that would require a blowtorch to break.

  11. Paco3185 says:

A better question is what will be done and I bet 100% would say – nothing!

  12. residenttaxpayer says:

Until the State starts enforcing strict night closure of the park the homeless problem will not go away and vandalism and property damage will continue……

  13. cojef says:

Provide slit trenches and lock/close regular bath room facilities during evening hours or procure stainless steel urinals/stalls like the prison facilities to deter vandalism.
