Stars are shining brightly as Christmas is approaching

By Wayne Harada

POSTED:

'Twas the week before Christmas
And all through the 'aina
Santa had presents
For malihini and kamaaina.

For Pres. Obama and Michelle
A tranquil holiday retreat;
With Alan Wong grinds,
Shave ice, Zipmin. Neat!

For Gov. Abercrombie he found
A new pink shirt and beige coat;
For Lieutenant Governor Schatz
New duties to be visible, afloat.

For ex-Governor Lingle
Time off to plan and ponder;
Her political career's in limbo
Not pau, but you gotta wonder.
For ex-Mayor Hannemann
Goodwill and good cheer;
And a tall order of aloha
To lure visitors over here.

For Mayor Peter Carlisle
A bit more discretion;
Like, avoid eye-rolling rants
And body language direction.

For Alex O'Loughlin and Scott Caan,
Who make up "Five-0's" A-team;
Book a Globe and an Emmy
'Specially for Danno. He'll gleam.

For Tony Ruivivar and Kit Samson
Who had surgeries this year;
Swift, healthy rebound
Would certainly be dear.

A Grammy or two
For prolific Bruno Mars;
But please, Santa, eliminate drugs
Which are PR scars.

More Johnny Depp "Pirates"
Sequels No. 5 and No. 6;
Film commish Georja Skinner
Won't mind 3-D tricks.

For Robert and Roland
Lots more Cazimero shows;
At home in the islands
Their manao still glows.
For Loretta Ables Sayre
Another Tony nod;
Throw in a white Christmas
Though it's tough on the bod.

For Hawaii's Dean Pitchford
A grand Broadway relaunch;
His "Carrie" is returning
This time with support staunch.

For Willie K, a showroom
To show off his voice.
For Jimmy Borges, a sip
From the fountain of youth. Choice!

For Augie and Frank
More twinbills, more laughter;
For nonprofits, the obvious:
Checks falling from the rafters.

The ultimate blockbuster
For Hawaii Theatre's Burton White;
And retirement bliss
For ever-busy Ron Bright.

For Jack and Cha Thompson
More time for moopuna;
And for Tihati, healed shoulder?
Plus kaukau like cream tuna.
For Tannya Joaquin
A reliable alarm clock;
With "Sunrise" a-calling,
She'll arise first on her block.

For Kealii Reichel
Hawaiian CD/DVD chartbusters;
For film-ghost-historian Steve Fredrick?
Old flicks, plus ghostbusters!

For entrepreneur Jack Cione
A cell phone will do;
For Frannie Kirk? Why not
A choice golf spot with view?

For Israel Kamakawiwoole
Perhaps a duet with Don Ho?
In this techie era, going over the rainbow
Is possible, right, Jon de Mello?

How'd you keep Jake Shimabukuro
Strumming like a Farmer?
A spokesman extension
Would make his soul warmer.

For Amy Hanaialii,
A concert tour would suffice;
For SOS classic and LV
A new album would be nice.
For Keith Haugen, just credit
For all that under-radar fuss.
Like playing Santa at Christmas
With free CDs for riders on TheBus.

And peace in heaven,
For Al Masini, Krash Kealoha.
For James "Danno" MacArthur
A Jack Lord reunion. Aloha.

More tours to Japan
For Hapa, ManoaDNA.
More bed race hoopla
For bubbly Carole K.

For Eddie and Myrna Kamae,
More Hawaiian doc movies;
For Cecilio and Kapono?
Old rock 'n' roll groovies.

To you, faithful readers,
A glass of champagne, with fizz;
Let's make a toast together ...
And that's Christmas Show Biz. ...
