Hawaii Select drops game

After winning its first game in pool play, Hawaii Select dropped a 50-38 battle to Cedar Park (Texas) yesterday in the adidas Super 64 girls basketball tournament in Las Vegas.

Hawaii Select led 30-27 early in the second half before Cedar Park went on a 3-point barrage.

"They must’ve hit 10 3s," coach Chico Furtado said.

Senior guard Brydgette Tatupu-Leopoldo (Farrington) paced Hawaii Select with 15 points on five 3-pointers. Quynne Eharis (University) added 10 for Select, which resumes pool play against Northwest Magic (Wash.) today.

Center Hailey-Ann Maeda (eye injury) did not play yesterday.
