Kona remains in first after day two

After a day of big catches, it was the small catches that kept the Kona Game Fishing Club-Kusatsu in the lead going into today’s final day of the Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament off Kona.

On Wednesday, a 697-pound catch vaulted Kona Game Fishing Club-Kusatsu into first. Yesterday, a 135-pound Pacific blue marlin catch kept the team in first.

Kona has 1,829 points, followed by Laguna Niguel Billfish Club II (1,300 points) and Hilton Grand Vacations Fishing Club of Japan (1,258). Game Fishing Club of South Australia is fourth with 1,000.

The five-day tournament ends today.
