Dolans to paddle in Poland

Ryan and Patrick Dolan of Kailua will compete as members of Team USA in the 2010 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Poznan, Poland, this week.

The Dolan brothers will be joined by Tim Hornsby and top U.S. kayaker Morgan House, who trained with the Dolans in Hawaii under U.S. Sprint national team coach Guy Wilding on the Ala Wai Canal this year.

The world championships start Thursday.

Race to benefit Boys and Girls Club

The 29th Windward Half Marathon and Rosie Wall 5K — "Holokiki O ‘Alele," — will take place Sept. 12, with proceeds benefiting the Boys and Girls Club’s Windward Clubhouse.

Registration for the half marathon is $40 and $25 for the 5K before Friday. After Friday, registration fees go up by $5 for each race.

Both races will start and finish at Kailua Intermediate School. The half marathon kicks off at 6 a.m. and the 5K at 6:20 a.m.

The Keiki 100-yard dash, a race for children ages 3 to 5, begins at 8:30 a.m., and costs $15. Sign-ups for the dash will take place Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Macy’s Kailua.
