Prince William’s gang eats at Plan B spot

ANGLESEY, Wales » Everyone wants to get close to Prince William as his wedding approaches — but it turns out the future king can’t always get the restaurant table he wants.

William and a group of his friends were turned away from the Seacroft restaurant in Wales on Sunday night because the establishment didn’t have room to seat about 20 additional guests.

"The plan was to eat there, but unfortunately they had one of their chefs off sick so they weren’t able to cope with the number that we had brought," the operational commander of William’s unit, Squadron Leader Iain "Spike" Wright, said yesterday. "And so we found another location and we moved on."

A local businessman, Jonathan Campbell, 39, said the restaurant phoned the nearby Treaddur Bay hotel to see if they could take the party.

"They thought it was a joke that it was Prince William and his buddies and they had to ring three or four times and say ‘no, this is real,"’ he said.

But Campbell said he was not surprised the party was turned away from the Seacroft.

"We’ve got to pre-book, he’s got to pre-book," he said. "So it’s only fair."

Although residents weren’t surprised, Marianne Swanner, an engineer visiting from Orlando, Florida, was shocked.

"In the States, if (President Barack) Obama wants to go there, they’d have let him," she said. "They would have cleared it out and let him in."

Lil Wayne’s crew faces charges in Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. » Two security guards face charges of impersonating police officers after they escorted rapper Lil Wayne to an Indiana nightclub.

WISH-TV reports that 43-year-old Ronald Andre Harrod and 23-year-old Larry Lee Richardson of Indianapolis wore police-type uniforms as they escorted Lil Wayne to a Bloomington nightclub Wednesday.

Police say Richardson led a caravan of tour buses in a car that had flashing red and blue lights and sirens blaring. Harrod was behind the caravan in another car.

Bloomington Police Department Capt. Joe Qualters says the men said they had permission and credentials to drive with lights and sirens.

Zeta-Jones upbeat after treatment

LOS ANGELES » Catherine Zeta-Jones is heading back to work this week after seeking inpatient treatment for bipolar disorder.

A spokeswoman for Zeta-Jones says that "after dealing with the stress of the past year," the 41-year-old actress "made the decision to check into a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her bipolar II disorder."

Publicist CeCe Yorke says Zeta-Jones is "feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films."

Zeta-Jones is married to Michael Douglas, who battled throat cancer last year and declared in January that he is cancer free.
