HPU sweeps UHH in baseball

Taylor Hill pitched a seven-inning four-hitter to lead Hawaii Pacific past Hawaii-Hilo 3-0 to finish off a sweep of a baseball doubleheader yesterday at Hans L’Orange Park.

Hill struck out seven, Max Newman went 3-for-3 and Blake Amaral drove in two runs for the Sea Warriors (22-21).

Travis Stencil had two hits for the Vulcans (17-25).

Troy Ajer’s ninth-inning RBI groundout broke a tie and gave HPU a 3-2 victory in the opener.

Pair to speak at Honolulu QB Club

Kirk Montgomery and Adam Yeatts are the guest speakers at today’s weekly luncheon meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.

Montgomery is the director of programming development for Epic Sports, which will run the inaugural EPIC5 ultra-endurance race on Kauai and the Big Island in May.

Yeatts is an assistant coach for the Hawaii Pacific University cheerleading program.

The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Maple Garden restaurant with the program to follow. The cost is $15 per person and the public is invited.
