Kamai’s 11 goals lift Roosevelt
Sophomore utility Rachel Kamai scored 11 goals to power the Roosevelt Rough Riders over the Baldwin Bears 19-5 and into the quarterfinals of the Stanford Carr Development/HHSAA Girls Water Polo State Championships at Kamehameha-Hawaii on the Big Island.
Roosevelt (12-3), the OIA’s No. 3 seed, meets three-time defending champion Punahou (8-0), the No. 1 seed, at 2:15 p.m. today in the quarterfinals at the Hawaii Naeole Aquatics Facility.
Senior driver Alison King had three goals for Baldwin (6-5), which plays Kapolei in a consolation match at 1 p.m. today.
Waiakea 12, Leilehua 5
Senior Leigh Williams scored three of her match-high six goals as the Warriors went on a 6-1 run in the third quarter to pull away from the Mules.
Waiakea (6-5) advances to a quarterfinal match with No. 2-seeded and OIA champion Kahuku (14-0) at 4:45 p.m. today.
Leilehua (11-4) plays Kaiser at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the consolation bracket.

Senior utility Kehau Ai scored four goals and junior Brittney Garrigan three goals as the Warriors bolted to a 9-1 first-quarter lead to put away the Cougars.
Kamehameha (6-3), the ILH runner-up, advances to a quarterfinal match with MIL champion Lahainaluna (10-0), the No. 3 seed, at 6 p.m. today.
Kaiser (8-7) plays Leilehua at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
Mililani 7, Kapolei 3
Sophomore driver Kelsi Choquette scored twice within 30 seconds in the third quarter as the Trojans built a 5-1 lead en route to a win over the Hurricanes.
Senior Alexzandrea Daley and junior Cassie Kawamata also scored twice for Mililani.
The Trojans (12-3) advance to a quarterfinal match with No. 4-seeded Kamehameha-Hawaii (10-0) at 3:30 p.m. today. Kapolei (8-7) plays Baldwin at 1 p.m. in a consolation match.
