Maui’s Lauren Spalding Bartlett, the first female finisher in the Molokai World Surf-Ski Championships, received a lei yesterday on the dock at the Hawaii Kai Towne Center after she completed the race.

Moore defeats Fitzgibbons
RIO De JANEIRO >> Carissa Moore of Hawaii won the Billabong Rio Pro yesterday, beating Sally Fitzgibbons of Australia in the final.
Moore put up a 14.87 (out of 20.00), while Fitzgibbons scored 13.80. With the win, Moore extended her ratings lead over Fitzgibbons.
The Rio Pro featured the Association of Surfing Professionals’ top 17 women.
