Sweet validation for Victorino

Shaka, Shane!

Despite being on the disabled list last week for a sprained thumb, Maui boy and Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino snagged a spot on the National League roster for tomorrow’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Phoenix, Ariz.

Alas, the injury will keep him from playing — but he says he’ll be at the game just the same.

Victorino grabbed a whopping 9.2 million online fan votes as the top vote-getter. Acknowledging the "tremendous honor," he said: "The fans in Philadelphia and Hawaii as well as my offseason home in Las Vegas are so loyal to me — that’s what means more than anything."
