Sweet validation for Victorino

Shaka, Shane!

Despite being on the disabled list last week for a sprained thumb, Maui boy and Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino snagged a spot on the National League roster for tomorrow’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Phoenix, Ariz.

Alas, the injury will keep him from playing — but he says he’ll be at the game just the same.

Victorino grabbed a whopping 9.2 million online fan votes as the top vote-getter. Acknowledging the "tremendous honor," he said: "The fans in Philadelphia and Hawaii as well as my offseason home in Las Vegas are so loyal to me — that’s what means more than anything."

Get ready for some big-time magic to whiz across the big pond: Harry Potter Week is here.

The world premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," the eighth and final installment of the gangbusters franchise, took place last Thursday in London amid mega fanfare. The highly anticipated movie opens in the U.S. this Friday, bringing to a close a film series that has made $6.37 billion globally — so far.
