Victim in South Kona crash is identified
A 47-year-old Big Island man died today from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash on Hawaii Belt Road in South Kona.
Police identified the victim as James Keka of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates.
Police said the man was driving south in a 1995 two-door sedan when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and overturned about 30 feet from the highway near the 93-mile marker.
The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, police said.
Police responded to a call at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, and the driver was taken to Kona Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m. today.

Police said investigators were awaiting an autopsy on the man’s cause of death.
