UH women’s basketball team loses at Army

The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team opened a lengthy road trip with a tight loss at Army today.

Army rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit and held off the Rainbow Wahine in the final minutes of a 55-51 win at Christl Arena in West Point, N.Y.

Sophomore forward Kamilah Jackson and freshman guard Alissa Campanero scored 15 points each to lead the Wahine, who lost their seventh straight. Jackson also had 11 rebounds with Breanna Arbuckle leading UH with 13.

Campanero hit three 3-pointers for UH. But the Wahine, who led 27-20 at halftime, struggled from the free-throw line, going 8-for-18.

Army guard Jen Hazlett led the Black Knights with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Army hit six of 18 3-point attempts and made 11 of 15 free throws.

UH closes its East Coast trip at Columbia on Saturday.
