Waiawa escapee recaptured in Ala Moana area


A 49-year-old Waiawa Correctional Facility inmate, who escaped while on a work furlough this weekend, was found Sunday afternoon in Ala Moana and arrested for escape.

Police said Michael Maggiacomo, who didn’t return on Friday while out on a work furlough, was found blocking a sidewalk at Kapiolani Boulevard and Atkinson Drive at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and arrested.

Maggiocomo has several aliases including John Henry Maggiacomo.

His conviction record beginning in 1986 includes 10 felony convictions, 15 misdemeanor convictions and 9 petty misdemeanor convictions.
