Lifeguards rescued two freedivers after their boat capsized about a mile off Diamond Head.

A woman called 911 from the Black Point area about 2:45 p.m. Thursday to report that a boat had overturned and two people were swimming toward land, said Jim Howe, city Ocean Safety Division operations chief.

Lifeguards from Ocean Safety’s Rescue One unit used a personal watercraft to pluck the men from the water and bring them back to shore unhurt by 3:20 p.m.

The divers’ 19-foot Glasspro outboard boat was anchored upside-down and wasn’t moving, Howe said.

The Coast Guard was alerted about the capsized boat.
