UH to search nationally for new athletic director
University of Hawaii at Manoa Chancellor Tom Apple said today the school will conduct a national search to find a successor for athletic director Jim Donovan.
Donovan was reassigned Sunday after being cleared of wrongdoing in the Stevie Wonder concert controversy.
UH vice president Rockne Freitas is the acting AD, but Apple said the school will likely hire a search firm to assist in selecting a permanent athletic director.
Apple said that Donovan is free to apply for the position if he chooses.
The chancellor said the school wants “someone who can take us to the next level.”
Apple declined to say what Donovan’s new title is.
