Hawaii holds off late Chaminade charge

The University of Hawaii men’s basketball team produced a near flawless first half, but had to hang on in the second to secure a 104-93 victory over Chaminade tonight in a nonconference game played on the island of Molokai.

Both teams shot the ball well in the first half as the Rainbows built a 63-49 advantage. But things got a little out of hand in the second half, leading to UH center Vander Joaquim getting a technical late in the game. Hawaii had six players finish in double figures as the Rainbows raised their season record to 5-3. Chaminade has lost six straight to drop to 3-7 overall.
