A 28 year-old Lahaina woman is in critical condition at Maui Memorial Medical Center after she was hit by a motorcycle early this morning while crossing  Honoapiilani Highway.

Both speed and alcohol are suspected in the 1:46 accident, which involved a 46 year-old Lahaina man who was driving the 2006 Kawasaki ZX 14 black motorcycle at 1:46 a.m.

The motorcycle driver also is hospitalized at Maui Memorial Center with a fractured right arm.

Maui police said the motorcyclist was headed south on Honoapiilani Highway when he struck the victim who was crossing the highway at the intersection of Hoohui Road. The female was not in a marked crosswalk which she  was struck by the motorcycle.
