Man killed in Ala Moana Blvd. motorcycle crash
Honolulu Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash on Ala Moana Boulevard near Aloha Tower overnight.
The crash killed a man in his 20s at about 2:19 a.m., according to an Emergency Medical Services report. The man, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the motorcyclist was in the Ewa-bound lanes when he struck the median curb and a sign post, landing in some bushes in the median near the Punchbowl Street intersection with Ala Moana Blvd.
Speed may have been a factor in the accident, police said.
Police closed part of Ala Moana Blvd. for a little more than 2 hours as Traffic Division officers investigated the crash scene. The lanes reopened by 4:53 a.m.
The death is Oahu’s 39th traffic fatality this year, compared with 39 at the same time last year.
