Driver, 43, dies after pickup rear-ends city bus

A 43-year-old Waipahu man died after his pickup truck rear-ended a city bus Wednesday on Farrington Highway in Ko Olina.

The victim, the driver of the pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 12:24 p.m., according to Emergency Medical Services.

Police said the bus was traveling toward Waianae on Farrington when it stopped to pick up a passenger and was struck from behind.

Police said a boy, a passenger on the bus, sustained minor injuries. He was treated at the scene, but was not transported to a hospital.

Police contraflowed the Waianae-bound lanes of Farrington Highway from 1 to 4 p.m. as Traffic Division officers investigated the crash.
