Passenger allegedly assaults taxi driver, causing crash in Nuuanu

A 21-year-old Kalihi man was arrested today after he attacked a taxicab driver, causing the driver to crash, police said. 

The attack happened about 3 a.m. while the man was riding in the taxi. The 56-year-old driver crashed because of the assault, which left him with minor injuries, police said. The vehicle crash was minor. 

Officers arrested the suspect about an hour later at Nuuanu Avenue and Pauoa Road for investigation of second-degree attempted murder.
