Rainbow Wahine defeat CSU Bakersfield

The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team went into the paint to pull away from CSU Bakersfield 65-55 today at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield, Calif.

UH post players Kalei Adolpho, Megan Huff and Connie Morris combined for 32 points on 15-for-20 shooting and the Rainbow Wahine (7-5) completed a sweep of their three-game holiday season road trip.

Destiny King led the Wahine with 13 points and five assists, Morris finished with 12 points and Huff, Adolpho and guard Briana Harris added 10 each. Harris hit both of UH’s 3-pointers and the Wahine finished 2-for-14 beyond the arc.

UH shot 45 percent from the field and went 19-for-27 from the free-throw line.

Alyssa Shannon led CSUB (2-12) with 15 points and forward Batabe Zempare added 14 points and seven rebounds.

UH returns to the Stan Sheriff Center on Saturday to face Penn in the second game of a doubleheader. The UH men’s team faces Howard in the opener at 5:30 p.m.
