No. 5 Hawaii volleyball team drops No. 1 UCLA
Freshman opposite Stijn van Tilburg put down a career-high 21 kills and senior hitter Siki Zarkovic added 15 as No. 5 Hawaii handed No. 1 UCLA its first loss of the season, defeating the Bruins 18-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-18 tonight in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match at the Stan Sheriff Center.
A season-high crowd of 3,576 saw the Rainbow Warriors (9-1, 4-1) extend their home-court winning streak to 17 while defeating the Bruins for a fifth consecutive time, tying a program record against UCLA. The victory gave Hawaii coach Charlie Wade his 100th career win.
Micah Ma’a led the Bruins (10-1, 6-1) with nine kills.
