Sansei restaurant opens in Seattle Sunday

Hawaii restaurateur D.K. Kodama will open the Seattle outpost of his Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar on Sunday.

The 3,500-square-foot restaurant marks Kodama’s return to Seattle, where he entered the food-service business as a bartender in 1979. He opened the first Sansei, in Kapalua on Maui, in 1996. His D.K. Restaurant group now comprises four Sansei locations, Vino Italian Tapas & Wine Bar and d.k steakhouse in Waikiki.

Sansei Seattle is Kodama’s first venture outside Hawaii.

He had hoped to open by the end of 2015, and in August the restaurant guide Zagat named Sansei one of the city’s 10 most anticipated restaurants of the year. Kodama announced the new opening date in a news release Sunday.

The restaurant is located at Premiere on Pine, a 40-story apartment tower in downtown Seattle.

This is “Top News”???? How much did D.K pay you for the advertising?

You should have asked him why he chose a city that has a $15 minimum wage to be his first out of Hawaii venture. He could have opened it just outside of Seattle city limits somewhere else in King County and avoided that.

I think this is about a proven great Hawaii restaurant opening in Seattle. Nothing to do with wages
Talk about needing a cup of coffee to start your day. Geeez

Best of luck to DK. Good to see go-getters working hard and taking a risk to create new things.

I enjoy the city but their football fans are the worst.
