Tourist to Hawaii need to understand that the ocean here is not a dormant lake. There are strong undertoe current under the calm surface.
It makes me crazy when guide books for visitors publish glowing descriptions of places like Queen’s Bath – so dangerous during huge surf ini the winter – and which used to be a place where locals could go in the SUMMER when the ocean was calm. Tragedies like this so often follow, while those of us who live here lose another refuge.
