Highway 19 lane closed near Kaawalii Gulch to clear boulder
Hawaii County police have closed one lane on Highway 19 in the Hamakua Coast area to clear a boulder from the roadway.
In the aftermath of an apparent rock-slide, police said one lane of the two-lane highway at Kaawalii Gulch between Ookala and Lapahoehoe has been closed since at least 1 p.m.
Police Capt. Andrew Burian said authorities were waiting for a road crew to clear the boulder.
