Hawaii softball beats Iowa
Freshmen Sarah Muzik and Nicole Lopez each had two hits to help the Hawaii softball team beat Iowa 4-3 on Wednesday in the Hawaii Pacific Health Rainbow Wahine Classic.
Brittany Hitchcock struck out six as host Hawaii (14-14) won back-to-back games for the first time in two weeks.
Lopez’s bases-clearing single put Hawaii ahead 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning. Iowa (7-14) scored three unearned runs in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 4-3.
In Wednesday’s earlier game, Iowa’s two hits were enough for a 1-0 win over Texas. Texas (16-5) plays twice Thursday with Iowa at 3:30 p.m. and Hawaii at 6 at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
