Hawaii’s Sinisa Zarkovic hits down the middle past San Diego’s Shayne Beamer in the second set of a game against UC San Diego at the Stan Sheriff Center on Jan. 29.

Two players who helped the Hawaii men’s volleyball team earn a conference postseason berth earned weekly honors today.

Setter Joe Worsley was named the national freshman of the week by Off The Block, a website dedicated to men’s volleyball, and senior hitter Siki Zarkovic was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation player of the week.

Worsley helped Hawaii hit 475 in Saturday’s five-set victory over UC Irvine, finishing with 59 assists, two aces and 10 digs. He also had 41 assists and nine digs in Friday’s five-set win over the Anteaters.

Zarkovic had 50 kills in the two five-set wins over UC Irvine, putting away a career-high 25 on each night. He hit .429 for the two matches, including .537 on Saturday when he also had 13 digs for his first double-double of the season.

It is the third MPSF weekly honor for Zarkovic and the first since earning two as a freshman in 2013.
