Warriors win on senior night

Freshman opposite Stijn van Tilburg put down 11 kills and No. 9 Hawaii sent its three seniors off to the postseason with a 26-24, 25-21, 25-20 sweep of No. 14 Cal Baptist in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball regular-season finale for both teams tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The seventh-seeded Rainbow Warriors (16-11, 11-11 MPSF) will be at second-seeded UCLA (23-5, 17-5) for next Saturday’s quarterfinal at Pauley Pavilion. The teams split the regular-season series in Honolulu, Hawaii winning in four the first night, UCLA in five the second.

Van Tilburg and freshman middle Nainoa Frank each were in on seven of Hawaii’s 14.5 blocks.

Enrique de Diego Garcia led Cal Baptist (14-16, 6-16) with nine kills.

Brigham Young (19-3, 22-3) won the MPSF title and earned the top seed. The Cougars will host eighth-seeded UC Irvine (10-19, 7-15). The other quarterfinals have third-seeded Long Beach State (22-5, 17-5) hosting sixth-seeded Pepperdine (13-10, 12-10) and fifth-seeded UC Santa Barbara (16-9, 14-8) at fourth-seeded Stanford (19-5, 17-5).
