STAR-ADVERTISER / JAN. 2014

UH’s Siki Zarkovic hit from the outside with Penn State’s Taylor Hammond defending in the second set against the Nittany Lions at the Outrigger Volleyball Invitational Tournament at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior outside hitter Siki Zarkovic was named to the all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation first team, one of three Rainbow Warriors to be selected for postseason volleyball honors today.

This is the second all-conference honor for Zarkovic, who was named to the second team last year. Also selected from Hawaii were senior libero Kolby Kanetake, named to the second team, and opposite Stijn van Tilburg, named to the all-freshman team as well as honorable mention.

Two island prep products also were named to the all-freshman team in UCLA setter Micah Ma’a (Punahou) and Stanford libero Evan Enriques (Kamehameha-Hawaii). Ma’a, runner-up for freshman of the year honors, also was picked for the first team and Enriques to the second team.

Player of the Year went to Stanford senior setter James Shaw. Freshman of the Year went to Long Beach State’s TJ DeFalco.
