Holloway, Penn to fight at same UFC event

Max Holloway and B.J. Penn will fight on the same card in June the UFC confirmed today.

Holloway will take on Ricardo Lamas in a matchup of top-five ranked featherweights at UFC 199 on June 4 at The Forum in Los Angeles.

Penn will also fight on the card, returning from a 23-month absence to take on Dennis Siver at 145 pounds.

Holloway (15-3, 10-3 UFC) was sidelined two months with a thumb injury and will fight for the first time since a unanimous decision over Jeremy Stephens in December.

The Waianae native has won seven straight fights to vault to No. 4 in the latest UFC rankings at 145 pounds.

Lamas, who is ranked fifth, is 15-4 overall and 7-2 in the UFC with his only losses against former champion Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes.

Lamas earned a unanimous decision over Diego Sanchez in his last fight in November.

Holloway’s current winning streak includes victories over three separate fighters ranked in the top 10.
