Michelle Wie hits out of a bunker up to the sixth green of the Lake Merced Golf Club during the second round of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic golf tournament Friday in Daly City, Calif.

DALY CITY, Calif. >> Michelle Wie withdrew from the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic on Sunday because of neck spasms after playing the first 15 holes in 11 over.

Wie was 16 over at Lake Merced after opening with rounds of 73, 73 and 75.

She’s winless since the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open and hasn’t had a top-10 finish in 33 events. Last year, she struggled with left hip and ankle injuries. In 2014, she fought a stress fracture in her right hand.

I can see her golfing career coming to an end. To many injuries and she really didn’t live up to people’s expectations
as far as being a top notch golfer. She had her good times but i think there were more bad one’s.At least she has her degree to fall back on.

Was expecting better things for Michele; now it’s almost Tigerish with one set back after another.

    more excuses.

Hope this is not another “shibai” by Wie. The last time she was shooting this high, she withdrew from a tournament due to a reported injury. The LPGA penalty at that time was being ineligible for a period of time due to the high score. But miraculously, 4 to 5 days later she was seen hitting balls getting ready for that weeks otournament, immediately following the one she just quit because of an alleged injury. This infuriated Annika Sorenstam because the tournament Wie pulled out of was the one Annika was sponsoring. Wie has not been a gracious loser, frequently making a lot of excuses for her demise, have some class and call it like it is, just say you had a bad day.

Neck spasms more like putting spasms

She should have immediately retired from pro golf right after winning the U.S Women’s Open in 2014. Never lived up to local people’s expectations of her. Too bad…

Poor thing, another invisible injury. Amazing how they pop up when she shoots high scores. Time to find another line of work.

  10. Kapaho says:

She probably faked an injury since she was playing so bad. If she is in fact injured, she shouldn’t play, like Tiger Woods.

Such poor character and such a poor example to children.

  12. Ewaduffer says:

Glad I’m not a pro athlete around here with the comments you no golfing losers poor on a person who has a bad day.

Give her a break….can you imagine how frustrated she is? We need to support her.

  14. Kalaheo1 says:

I have back spasms today and it feels miserable. There’s no way I could play golf today, much less play at a professional level.

I wish Miss Wie all the best and a speedy recovery and all the future success imaginable. She is a young lady with a long career ahead of her. And to the rest of you, please save your criticism for people who deserve it.

Due to poor management driven by commercializement, she has not reached the full potential of her talents. Also tempering with her swing has not helped. She should gracefully retire?
