LAS VEGAS >> Las Vegas police say a California woman was struck by a car and critically injured.

Authorities say 23-year-old Deonsha Armstrong-Stewart, of Palmdale, was walking outside of a marked crosswalk around 3:40 a.m. Sunday at the time of the collision.

Witnesses say a vehicle traveling westbound on Flamingo Road near Linq Lane tried to avoid Armstrong-Stewart and applied the brakes.

But the front of the car hit her.

She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, who stayed at the scene, and a passenger were not injured.

Police say there are no signs of impairment from the driver.

However, the incident remains under investigation.
