UH beats Sac State in 2OT

Storm Kenui scored the golden goal in the 106th minute to give the Hawaii soccer team a 2-1 win over Sacramento State in double overtime tonight at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

Kenui flicked her shot up and over the Hornets’ goalkeeper from just outside of the penalty box. It was the co-captain’s seventh career goal and first of the season.

Sarah Lau got UH on the board in the 50th minute with a header goal off a pass by Addie Steiner. Sacramento State came back with a shot by Andrea Boehm in the 58th minute.

UH (2-0-1) continued its best start since 2007 and faces Idaho State (2-2) at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
