Rainbow Wahine volleyball beat Cal Poly

Senior opposite Nikki Taylor put down 25 kills to lead No. 14 Hawaii to a 32-34, 27-25, 25-17, 25-10 Big West volleyball victory over Cal Poly tonight in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Also in double-digit kills for the Rainbow Wahine (9-4, 2-0 Big West) were sophomore hitter McKenna Granato (15), junior middle Emily Maglio (10) and senior Annie Mitchem (12), who moved to middle blocker from outside hitter in Set 4.

It was Hawaii’s fourth consecutive win of the season and its 12th straight over Cal Poly (7-5, 0-1).

Alexis Clewis led the Mustangs with 17 kills, and Raeann Greisen added 16.

The Wahine had a season-high 14 blocks. Maglio was in on eight, and Taylor and Mitchem were in on six each.

Junior libero Savanah Kahakai tied her career high weith 23 digs. Freshman setter Norene Iosia had her sixth double-double with 12 digs to go with 58 assists.

    Wahine won the 4th set 25-20, not 25-10.

    Geezus, can’t the sportswriter get it right concerning the scores as the 4th set was Wahines 25-20 and not 25-10. This newspaper is replete with amateur writers……just sickening……nothing more and nothing less.
