JAMM AQUINO / JAQUINO@STARADVERTISER.COM

President Barack Obama talks with Sen. Brian Schatz, left, Honolulu mayor Kirk Caldwell, and Gov. David Ige after arriving from Washington D.C. aboard Air Force One on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam in Honolulu, Hawaii.

President Obama is spending the first day of his holiday vacation in Hawaii at the golf course.

His golfing partners today are Bobby Titcomb, Joe Paulsen, Michael Brush and Luke Rosa.

They are golfing at the Kaneohe Klipper golf course.

The First Family touched down in Hawaii just before 11 p.m. Friday at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

The Obamas left their Kailua vacation rental at 9:56 a.m. and arrived shortly after at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

According to White House travel pool reports, a small group of protesters held signs at the end of Kailuana Place calling for the closure of Guantanamo, clemency for Chelsea Manning, “End Gaza Blockade” and another sign reading “8 Years Waiting, Stop and Talk.”

    Klipper is good! Have fun!

I was not a big fan. But I appreciate him a LOT more now, that we’re about to have another Dubya in office. OMG. He can’t even spell his tweets. Economy be doomed. We’re all doomed. War is hell.

  3. latenightroach says:

He couldn’t wait another month for his permanent vacation. Instead he was compelled to spend >4.5 million of our tax dollars to come here now. And look at all our crony local DEMS sucking up & smiling away…lol

Hey Mr. President, did you get our underwater drone back yet?

  4. calentura says:

Please, just stay on the golf course for the next four weeks. Merry Christmas.

    • PCWarrior says:

Amen. Any stupid president who backed Cadwell for mayor when he has single handedly put Honolulu to the breaking point with the disaster called rail can take a hike in my opinion. Go deep into the mountains and stay there Mr. President. Punahou gave us a terrible football coach in Chow, a more horrible and lying basketball coach in Arnold and now Barry boy. No more Punahou guys please thank you.

Obama has been a decent president. He was given a plate full when he first came in and look at his record. Dow up to almost 20. unemployment down and the deficit cut by well over half. Time will tell if the Donald can equal Obama’s record, surpass it, or if the economy will go to hell in a hand basket. Considering that the Donald will be pushing Voodoo, I believe the economy will be heading south.

        • calentura says:

Thanks for the tip. I’ll pick up some SPX puts right away. I’m gonna be rich…!!!!

        • dtpro1 says:

Our charismatic son of Hawaii, who did not come here for Pearl’s 75th is back here later for his vacation. I think history will remember our President as a charismatic, first black president, but should also show the deltas such as the mis-management of the federal govt. With scandals such as the VA, OPM, Affordable care, etc…he was one of the poorest executive branch managers we ever had. Not sure if he can take credit for economy, a lot of that may be due to a congress that not let him have much of anything. His true legacy is his presidency is giving way to Trump, a dubious honor at best.

LOL Schatz and Caldwell are like “You wearing my shirt man!”

  6. livinginhawaii says:

I hope Morimoto does take out for him tonight. Didn’t appreciate the cell phone jamming technology last year when I was next door.

    • MANDA says:

Right, because it’s more important for each and every one of us to have our precious phone at all times and all hours of the day and night than to have our president be secure.

      • livinginhawaii says:

Wow dude you have no Aloha – they are not just telephones any more. Care givers have vital services connected to these things that can get disrupted. Others have lifeline services that connect directly to the hospital. This is Hawaii not the mainland. Barry is secure here and blocking cell phones does not do a thing to make him more secure.

    • Surfer_Dude says:

Morimotos closed a month ago, so I think he’s not gonna eat there this trip.

  7. YOTARE says:

    Go home soon!

  8. jussayin says:

Of all the trips to Hawaii, this one is not appropriate and is definitely a waste of tax payers dollars. He’s “retiring” in a month and he takes a vacation paid by the government/us. That’s “milking the system”.

  9. SHOPOHOLIC says:

Obama to the Three Stooges: Good luck getting the Rail Fail through under the next administration…

  10. inlanikai says:

There you go folks. One picture explains all you need to know why this city and state is so messed up.

  11. ready2go says:

$4.5 million? Budweiser beer paid $5.2 million for every 30 second TV commercial during this year’s 2016 NFL Super Bowl — and they had 10 commercials. So Barry’s return gets our Hawaii in the news every day he’s here —World wide! As the HTA says, we all benefit from his family vacations here.

  12. HanabataDays says:

At least he’s not spending all his time appearing at ego-tripping victory rallies a month after the election — a time to be devoting full attention to the upcoming transition — like a certain someone I hardly need to name.

  13. deepdiver311 says:

go home opala..you’re a disgrace to hawai’i..no come back
    adios!!

    • NITRO08 says:

Look in the mirror you’ll see the disgrace of Hawaii. Please leave the State you show no Aloha.

    • keaukaha says:

Keep on diving until you cannot come back up. It’s a bitter pill for you to swallow but President Obama is leaving office at the top of his game. Highest approval ratings since Clinton. You are the man and black lives starting with you does indeed matter. Mahalo nui for your eight years of unprecedented leadership and for anyone who disagrees fu-k you.

      • Keonigohan says:

SA..you permit this kind of liberal profanity now?

        • sarge22 says:

No class keaukaka can’t handle the loss and continues with the racist comments. The ignore button is badly needed.

        • keaukaha says:

I’m just enjoying watching the Chump enhance his swamp while flipping the bird to all you idi-ts. Don’t see no plain folks in his meetings just more of the mega rich whose only wish is that you all disappear until 2020. Like the saying goes Chumpsters should be seen but not heard

  14. YOTARE says:

I hope they didn’t lose his prayer mat and bong going through customs. I actually hope I see his convoy this time, so I can make a big “L” with one hand and give him the middle finger with the other. If my taxes are funding this $4-million trip and $90-million for his past Kwanzaa vacations, that’s the least I can have.

  15. willman says:

Go to Chicago your real home and vacation. It is funny too see Schatz, Caldwell and Ige smiling like possums eating ….. they are sucking up to the wrong person.
Trump is the man now and may cancel all Federal monies to the rail when he learns of the gross mismanagement by Hawaii. He will be appalled at the waste of money
and should call for a Federal investigation of the Hawaii rail officials and project before one more federal cent is spent on the Honolulu rail system.

    • allie says:

don’t be so mean….we are proud of him!

      • wn says:

As a life long resident of this State, I am not. You have to have been around to experience Reagan era to understand…it was a wonderful time. If you took the initiative you did well. Regardless, Aloha means welcome and it also means good bye. I send the the later to anointed one.

        • Cellodad says:

Except you are wrong. “Reaganomics” was disastrous as was the stock market crash that trashed a lot of people’s retirement accounts. Who can forget President Reagan, in the early stages of dementia, falling asleep at the Iceland Summit and none of his aides could wake him.

  16. islandsun says:

Look at the sorry as.ses he is associating with

  17. WizardOfMoa says:

First year in his Presidency we read and hear a lot of his sister and her family ! Does he still keep in touch with her? Are they still close as we were led to believe? Or is she a non-entity with no use after he was re-elected? She was pretty and seems very nice!

  18. Marauders_1959 says:

    Listen:
    KA-CHING, KA-CHING, KA-CHING !!!

That’s the sound of money leaving the Tax-Payer’s Account.
Running the well dry, squeezing the last drop of blood.
    Then.. back to Chicago !!!

    • NanakuliBoss says:

Cmon, retirees and retired government workers pay squat taxes. If fact with SS and Medicare, you guys owe the working folk because we are supporting you. You guys are ripping the system.

      • Cellodad says:

Ha! I paid more in taxes last year than you paid in ten years. Yeah I’m retired but I got a good education and have a very good income also. You supporting me? Get real. Of course, I wouldn’t mind having the 50K+ in taxes back just to make what you say true.

  19. lespark says:

What the hell are these three blunders laughing about?

  20. Lees says:

    Mele Kalikimaka!

  21. lunalilohi says:

Less-les they are laughing at you.

  22. keaukaha says:

The greatest president to have ever served. In good company with Kennedy and Clinton. It’s all downhill from here back to the feudal system. All you suckers will get what you deserve.

  23. bumbye says:

Wow. Judging from most of the comments here, I don’t think Hawaii should be called the Aloha State any more.

  24. justmyview371 says:

Obama ignoring three politicians trying to kiss his behind. He just wants to play golf, eat at Alan Wong, enjoy his private beach and talk to his friends.

  25. yahoo808 says:

Didn’t the Governor get the memo to wear his Sig Zane shirt?

  26. Hitaxpayer says:

The three stooges greet the President.

  27. WalkoffBalk says:

President Obama is the people’s champ.

    • Hawaii_Libertarian says:

More like the people’s chump. His 8 years of governing by executive order will soon be wiped out by the Republican controlled U.S. House and Senate. His legacy will be failure and a spectacular wipeout of the Democratic Party on the mainland.

  28. tod says:

Are Schatz and Caldwell wearing the same shirt? Guess Ige never got the memo.

  29. KamIIIman says:

    The most vacationing president ever!

    • Cellodad says:

You are just completely wrong. Please stop making up “facts.” George W. Bush took the most vacations while in office. More than 407.

      As far as golfing goes:

“That title falls to Woodrow Wilson, who reportedly played about 1,200 rounds during his presidency. Dwight Eisenhower is the runner-up at 800, according to his memorial commission.”
