Help a family, get free recipes

Send five bucks to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Crave crew and they’ll send you the top five recipes of 2016 from Betty Shimabukuro’s “By Request” column that runs in the weekly food and dining magazine. Your money will go to the newspaper’s Good Neighbor Fund, which supports families in need.

This year’s recipes: Kalbi-Glazed Pork Belly from the Oceanarium at the Pacific Beach Hotel; Waialua Chicken Wings, a mochiko chicken classic from the ’70s; School-Kine Spanish Green Beans, a standard from Hawaii’s school cafeterias; Kalua Pork and Green Onion Hash from Leeward Community College; and the Halekulani’s Macadamia Nut Cream Pie.

To order: Send $5 for each set of recipes, along with a self-addressed, stamped, legal-size envelope for each set ordered. Make checks payable to the Good Neighbor Fund. Mail orders — no fax, phone or email orders — to “By Request” Top Recipes, Honolulu Star-Advertiser, 7 Waterfront Plaza, Suite 210, 500 Ala Moana Boulevard, Honolulu, HI 96813. Deadline to order is Dec. 31.
