Sophomore hitter Stijn van Tilburg put down 10 kills but it was not nearly enough as No. 5 Hawaii was swept by No. 4 Long Beach State 25-19, 25-14, 25-18 in tonight’s Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match in Long Beach, Calif.
Sophomore hitter Kyle Ensing had 11 kills with no errors on 19 swings, and sophomore hitter TJ DeFalco had five aces for the host 49ers (6-1, 3-1 MPSF).
The Warriors (5-2, 0-2) were outblocked 10-0 and had no aces compared to the 49ers’ eight.
Hawaii finishes its first road trip at No. 6 UC Irvine on Saturday.
