UC Davis forward Morgan Bertsch scored 24 points and the Aggies extended their winning streak to six with a 69-50 win over the University of Hawaii women’s basketball team tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

UC Davis, the highest scoring team in the Big West, shot 62 percent from the field in the first half and took control with a 17-0 run bridging halftime. Bertsch hit 11 of 19 shots and matched her scoring total in UCD’s home win over UH on Jan. 7.

Guard Pele Gianotti added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the league-leading Aggies (19-6, 10-2 Big West), who never trailed while sending UH (8-16, 4-8) to its fifth straight loss.

UH freshman Courtney Middap scored all 13 of her points in the second half in her most extensive playing time of the season. She had been hampered by a knee injury throughout the season. Guard Sarah Toeaina finished with 12 points, nine in the second half, and UH shot 35 percent as a team. Middap and forward Lahni Salanoa both hit three 3-pointers.

UH concludes its four-game homestand against Cal State Northridge (14-11, 7-4) on Saturday.

  • Courtney a bright spot for the future of the program. Wish she had played the entire season, look forward to next season with her return.

Toeaina, Woodfolk and Middap gives us a strong foundation for next year.
