Uskali tosses 5-hitter to lead Hawaii over Minnesota
Neil Uskali tossed a five-hit shutout and Alex Fitchett homered for the second straight game to lead Hawaii to a 4-0 win over Minnesota this evening in Minneapolis.
Freshman Jacob Sniffin added his first career home run for the Rainbow Warriors (5-5), who evened their record in the Dairy Queen Classic at 1-1 with their second win in three days against the defending Big Ten champion Gophers (5-4).
Uskali (1-1) walked one and struck out two to earn Hawaii’s first nine-inning complete-game shutout since Kyle Von Ruden against UC Davis last April. He lowered his season ERA to 1.29.
UH will finish the tournament, and its four-game road trip, Sunday morning against Oral Roberts (7-3) at 7:15 Hawaii time.
