No. 4 UH closes regular season by beating No. 6 UCLA
Senior hitter Kupono Fey and freshman opposite Rado Parapunov each had 11 kills and No. 4 Hawaii concluded the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball regular season with a 41-39, 25-23, 18-25, 25-22 victory over No. 6 UCLA tonight at the Wooden Center in Westwood, Calif.
The Rainbow Warriors (24-4, 14-4) oublocked the Bruins 17-15.5 with senior setter Jennings Franciskovic in on a career-high nine. Franciskovic just missed a triple double, finishing with 34 assists and 11 digs.
Hawaii lost the dig war 53-51 and had two other players in double-figure digs: libero Tui Tuileta with a match-high 15 and Fey with 10.
Jake Arnitz led UCLA (17-9, 10-8) with 14 kills and Eric Sprague 11. Michael Fisher (Hawaii Baptist) added 10 kills with just one error on 20 attempts.
Hawaii is seeded No. 3 in the MPSF tournament and will host Pepperdine on April 15 at the Stan Sheriff Center. The Warriors swept the Waves twice in February.
