Neil Uskali’s performance on the mound helped Hawaii defeat UC Davis today.

Neil Uskali pitched a five-hitter over 8 1/3 innings to help the University of Hawaii defeat UC Davis, 3-1, and salvage the finale of this three-game baseball series at Les Murakami Stadium.

After dropping both games of a doubleheader on Saturday, the Rainbow Warriors rebounded behind Uskali’s gritty pitching. Uskali balked home a run with no outs in the fourth. But Uskali allowed only one hit after that, a one-out single in the ninth. He departed after that, yielding to closer Dylan Thomas.

Jordan LaFave’s sacrifice fly broke a 1-all tie in the bottom of the UH fourth. Dylan Vchulek, who has reached base in all 36 games, singled in the insurance run.
