Man who died in 2-car crash on Big Isle identified

A man who died in a fatal two-car crash in Keaau has been identified as Travis Serquina.

Serquina, 31, of Keaau died Sunday night after a 2003 Mazda sedan traveling south on Highway 130 rear-ended a 1990 Toyota pickup truck operated by Serquina.

When police and firefighters arrived, they found the truck engulfed in flames. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, they discovered the burned body of a man partially outside the vehicle.

Police said Serquina was identified by his fingerprints.

The sedan driver, a 26-year-old Keaau man, fled on foot after the crash. Police located him shortly afterward and arrested him on suspicion of negligent homicide, driving under the influence of intoxicants and other offenses.
