HECO crews to work at Middle, N.King streets next week

Hawaiian Electric Co. officials said crews will continue work on the power distribution system near the intersection of Middle and North King streets Sunday through Wednesday.

Traffic lane closures will be required from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the work days.

On Sunday, both mauka-bound lanes of traffic on Middle Street will be closed along the Love’s Bakery building to the intersection of Middle and North King streets. Traffic will be contraflowed in one of the two makai-bound lanes of traffic in that area.

On Monday through Wednesday, the mauka-bound, right-hand lane of traffic along Love’s Bakery will be closed, and the lane closure will continue into the intersection, turn right onto North King Street, and end at the ramp to Love’s Bakery parking lot. The ramp will remain open, HECO officials said. On Tuesday, the mauka-bound, right-hand lane of traffic along Love’s Bakery will be closed to the intersection of Middle and North King streets.

Pedestrians will still be able to walk along the work areas, they said.
