Hawaiian Airlines jet’s engine catches fire after landing in Seattle

Hawaiian Airlines is investigating an engine fire involving an Airbus A330 ferry flight at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Upon landing at the airport from Paine Field Tuesday night, the aircraft’s left engine caught fire. Hawaiian Airlines Spokesman Alex Da Silva said the aircraft fire extinguishing system and firefighters extinguished the blaze.

No passengers were onboard the aircraft and two pilots were uninjured.

Da Silva said the aircraft had just been retrofitted with a premium new cabin.
