Man charged in 2016 crash that killed pedestrian near Ala Moana
A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with a 2016 crash that killed a 52-year-old pedestrian in the Ala Moana area.
Dusty Ah Mow-Tereise turned himself in at the main police headquarters Wednesday after he was charged with second-degree negligent homicide in Exian Lin’s death.
Police released Ah Mow-Tereise after he posted $15,000 bail and is expected to appear in court in the coming weeks.
A bench warrant was issued for his arrest after he was charged on Jan. 24 with negligent homicide.
On the morning of May 20, 2016, police said a vehicle operated by Ah Mow-Tereise was traveling east on Rycroft Street. The vehicle was making a left turn onto Sheridan Street when it struck Lin.
Lin was in a crosswalk at the time of the crash. Police said she was transported in critical condition to a hospital where she died the following day.
Ah Mow-Tereise has a criminal record of assault against a law enforcement officer and criminal property damage.
